Acorn
For Sale 1980 Acorn / Scamp
Very interested, is it titled as an Acorn? I sent a PM

Acorn was only made the 2nd half or 78 and the 1st half of 79. A one year name change because of a naming rights dispute.

Acorn years?

Going through the old threads I've found both 1979 and 1980, along with one 1971 Acorn listed. This one still has the Acorn graphics showing.

The 1971 is clearly a mistake of some kind, but 1980 is possible. I don't know exactly how the process of obtaining VINs and assigning model years works, but variations- an older year with a newer feature or vice versa- seem to be common. This one is pre-VIN, of course, so the VIN on the title was assigned later. Looks like a very clean and unmolested unit. It's about as basic as they come- a furnace appears to be the only option. The lack of upper galley cabinets over the sink is unusual.

Yes, an 80 Acorn

The registration shows " 80 ACR RV", So I'd say the description is correct. I hope the buyer lets us know who got it.

I'm definitely no expert. The following is from an article on the subject written by an Acorn owner. This being said there is no reason to doubt the sellers documentation. 'Statement from Scamp Trailers:' “Well we had records of how many had been made... but in 2006 we had a fire and lost our whole factory including any informal records. We made the trailers with the Acorn name for one year, half of ‘78 and half of ‘79. I don’t have an exact number for you but from talking with the founder and the current owner they had a guess of around a couple hundred! You have a rare Acorn/Scamp!”

Also a message to the OP, lol are you interested in selling your 72 Cloud?

Posted by Willieswonder (3 years ago)

Good morning, the registration I have from "I think" the original owners (or close to that says it's a 1980.
No, I already sold the Cloud and I am kicking myself!!! I wish I still had it.
This Acorn was a project for my daughters and I again like the Cloud was. My wife decided to buy a fifth wheel camper so this one has halted the restoral and is for sale... I'm sad but I live with 3 beautiful woman, I am doing what I am told! :u
