Vintage 13 foot fiberglass egg on a steel tube frame made for U haul by Burro. One of only about 2000 so made and rented by U haul in the 1980 s. Only weighs 1,320 lbs so you can pull it with almost anything including a Subaru or small crossover SUV. Unlike other egg campers, U Haul installed heavy steel bumpers. Front tongue has a handle built in for easy maneuvering by hand.

Great, original condition. Only two mods made in thirty seven years. The factory roof mounted swamp cooler was replaced with a 12 volt, 3 speed fan and the propane tank and mount were removed from the tongue to accommodate a large, lockable watertight utility box. Right now the camper has no propane tank but the original propane lines, heater, stove and interior fittings are untouched. Comes with the coveted 'blue' parts breakdown manual that illustrates all systems, specs and part numbers in great detail.

Original AC to DC/12 volt converter still works fine. All lights, the 110 AC outlet, overhead cooling fan and the range exhaust fan work as expected. All running lights including original taillights and turn indicators work. Camper came from the factory with a roof mounted 15 watt solar panel to trickle charge the battery battery is dead, camper has been sitting . Current owner purchased 4 years ago in Delaware, brought it to Texas but never used it. Has a clear Texas title and current registration expires 6/23 .

The camper does not have electric brakes. The rugged steel frame is in great condition with only minor/usual surface rust see pics . Sub floor is in great shape with no soft spots, but the bamboo look vinyl flooring is peeling up on the edges. New owner will want to replace.

The gelcoat is in pretty good condition with some fading and a few blemishes see pics . Could use a wash, buff and wax. Has original windows and screens sorry they are so dirty in the pictures . New owner will want to replace the cracking seals, I think they are the originals. New sealant on side windows. I will provide information on the parts required to reseal the windows.

The camper has never been in an accident or suffered physical damage; even the heavy steel bumper is untouched. It has nice curtains and all original cushions in good condition including the bunk beds . All cabinet doors and U Haul branding is original not painted . Have not tested the plumbing, heater or stove we unhooked the propane but it s all original and appears to be fine.

Axle and bearings appear fine. Axle is sealed so no 'greasing' the bearings. The tires have good tread. No spare tire, although there is a steel spare mounting post welded to the rear bumper.

These are nostalgic and fun. There is a dedicated community online eager to help others restore and modify these beauties.

Ours had an aluminum bumper

Posted by FerociousRV (1 year ago)

Q: does this model use leaf springs? If so can you post pics plz? Thx

Posted by mary and bob (1 year ago)

The Uhauls had a torsion axle and no brakes on the CT13's. I did see one that someone had put a leaf spring axle on, not good looking at all.

Posted by Kevin A (1 year ago)

Unless the axle and hubs have been replaced, there are no wheel bearings to check and pack. UHaul used sealed hubs for ease of rental usage.
