1990 16' Scamp Layout 4 with side bath.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly.

Good:

We used the bunk beds extensively as a great place for the dogs to sleep while giving us a very large shelf for coats and other stuff.

Thee are no internal or external leaks.

Fridge works well on AC and Propane, does not do anything on 12V.

Catalytic heater works so well, we hardly use the furnace. Does not use power, and is 98 efficient.

AC works really well, in fact a little too well, 95 degree heat no shade and I still had to run it on low with the temp control set to half way.

All burners on the stove work, and so does the vent hood.

Has a single 12V outlet,

All internal lights have been replaced with LED, Has 3 area lights and 2 reading lights. Also has a single AC light does a great job at lighting the inside .

Water system works, with 6 gallon hot water heater.

Electric breaks work well, baring were redone last year.

New protective enamel paint on the frame.

Group 27 battery

New curtains, also still have the old ones

Does have the connection for campground or satellite TV.

Tires are 2 years old and have lots of tread.

Wheel installed on tongue jack to allow it to be rolled on smooth surfaces.

Added 5x5" PVC fence post to the bottom to carry a standard size sewer hose.

Has rear bumper stabilizers.

Bad

It has the brackets for the awning, but it did not have the awning when I purchased it.

Spare tire cover is on its last legs.

Furnace produces a lot of heat and works well. It does make a noise when it first starts up, but then quiets down with continued use. We almost never use it because the Catalytic heater works so well. The noise might go away if the furnace was used more often. I pulled the heater and connected it with a quick connect for future repairs, the motor that makes the noise can be easily replaced if needed.

Before I purchased the trailer there had to have been an internal water leak, part of the floor was replaced and patched. It was well done and protected, no soft spots, and have had no problems with it. See attached photo.

Also before I purchased, there is a small burn hole in the fabric of one of the dinette cushions. We have never had a problem with it as we just have it facing down. see attached photo

Ugly

On a trip earlier this year the frame developed a crack on each side of the tongue. The trailer was taken to a professional welding shop that makes custom commercial trailers. They welded the cracks closed, and then added steel plates to reinforce the area, they also added plates to other high stress points on the frame. See photos

A small area of the fiberglass was damaged right above the tongue, this was patched with fiberglass and new gellcoat applied. see photos

We had a lot of fun with this trailer and really love the layout, but are moving up to a 21' Bigfoot.
