I am so puzzled. Why would a 2012 13' trailer cost only about 500 less than a 2021? Hoping to find out why.

Because there are more buyers than sellers. Supply and demand.

Like Glennnnn said.. I recently saw a Scamp 13 which was equipped about the same as my Scamp 16. The 13 was also a year older. It was listed for MORE than I paid for the 16 six years ago. Usually RV's are a depreciating asset but now there is record demand and that drives prices up. Give it a few years to turn around. What goes up must come down and usually the more prices go up the more they come down when supply is ramped up but demand is reduced.

Add to that long delays for new. Current Scamp orders are for 2023 delivery and are subject to unknown price increases. I don’t see a quick return to more normal supply and demand, not unless more conventional RV manufacturers embrace small and begin providing legitimate alternatives.
