Larry, Not sure why you posted this. But just in case you are asking about them, in my opinion, the Anderson hitch is a ridiculous design. And the Anderson Company has had questionable responses to problems. The hitches are hard to hook up and do take some getting used to. The only place they sort of make sense is on Oliver trailers and that is because they fit the Oliver without cutting any fiberglass. And it only makes sense then for tow vehicles that cannot handle a tongue weight of more than 500 lbs. I cannot think of any other benefit to the Anderson hitch.

Which tow vehicle and camper combination did you use the Andersen hitch?

One came with my Oliver but I never used it. I watched Anderson's responses and problems for years on the Oliver forum, and I have a good friend who uses one because his F150 has to have a WDH with a tongue weight over 500 lbs. He has an Anderson because of that Ford rule and having an Oliver. I looked closely at the design and decided it was not for me. I towed my Oliver with a heavier truck and had absolutely no need for a WDH, especially with the very stable Oliver LE2, but I was interested in the design, so I checked it out.

It applies its force in a different direction than a conventional WDH, and seems to be strictly for highway use with very limited uneven road surfaces. The ball and the anti-sway clutch were problems for a long time. Some stability control warnings were triggered on Fords and Anderson's response was to tell people to turn off the Ford stability control. Oliver LE2 trailers don't need sway control, but the Anderson has it. There were a lot of sway control clutch failures and Anderson replaced them under warranty. First they said the ball did not need lubrication, but when they started wearing severely, Anderson said they needed lubrication. That's fine, but it shows the product had extreme forces and was not fully perfected.

Another issue, that had nothing to do with the hitch, but said a lot about Anderson's owner, was when he carved his name in a National Monument at Arches NP. His excuse was that he loved his family and wanted to express it. The outrage was pretty severe.

My only suggestion is that if you need a WDH, look around and see what is available. See how they connect to the tongue and how you hook them up. The conventional design with spring bars has been around a long time and works. If you have an Oliver, the Anderson is the one that mounts with no fiberglass cutting.

[/QUOTE] Don't forget that when he got caught and the officials were on their way, his love for his family was so great that he sent a teenage son back to their vehicle to hide/swap-out their license plate.

Yep as a NPS retired employee, I would never do business with this company.
