If that's a Sherline, you can replace the gauge. Mine came with a 2,000 lb. gauge, which I replaced with a 1,000 lb gauge so I could read it. Ideally you want the gauge needle to be in the middle of the range for accuracy as well as ease of use. BTW, the scale should be stored upright, not on its side. Had to fix that.
What is the weight range of that scale? odd, the gauge in the picture seems calibrated in PSI, pounds per square inch, which is a measurement of pressure, rather than weight.
