1954 RANGER POP UP CAMPER
This is afairly rare fiberglass pop up camper. There are only about 37 of these known, and this is a very good example of the first year of manufacture. I have put new tires and wheels on it. I have also repaired some of the canvas that came with it and started adding a few additions, like the removable table and the doors on the upper cabinets. The cushions are original and I think most of the canvas is also.

Ranger history
Hille Manufacturing produced the Ranger pop up trailer in Anaheim, California from1954 to 1956 and is considered the first modern pop up camping trailer. There were 200 Ranger trailers that were produced during this time before the company stopped production, most likely because of the trailer s high price. A Ranger camper cost 1500.00 new, about 13,000 today That was a lot of money for a pop up camper in the 1950 s.
The Ranger camping trailer holds the distinction of being the first manufactured pop upcamper to be made of fiberglass and polyester resin. Once raised to full height, the trailer is completed by inserting the canvas sides to act as walls, any one of which could be removed to suit the needs of the camper.
Probably the most unique and recognizable feature of Ranger trailers is the hand crank thatraised the roof through a system of pulleys.
