I want to add a 2" receiver hitch to the rear of my 2016 Casita 17" SD.

Orbital Machine Works OMW has exactly what I'd like, but they are backlogged for 1 to 1 amp;1/2 years !

Does anyone have a receiver hitch like this they're not using ?

Any other ideas ?

There is another guy making those rear receivers for Casitas. I think his business name is Casita Works. Any welding / fabrication shop could make one, I made mine similar to the OMW one. Don't put too much weight on the rear as it could cause sway or other handling issues, and if you want it for a bike rack be sure to get a rack that is rated for use on the rear of a trailer.

Hitch at back

We got a bolt on unit for out boler bumper at the local trailer supply mounted under tire ok. Works great with bike rack. They also had one at Princess Auto but it would not fit under tire. Was affordable

Frame mount hitch?

If you are looking for a frame mount hitch etrailer has a selection.

We waited (not patiently I'm afraid) for the OMW and don't regret it. No, you can't 'borrow' it.

I have one that I'm no using. I believe it's a U-Haul bolt on. Clamps to the rear bumper. You pay postage + $50 and it's yours. I'm in Montana.

Thanks Mary and Bob, That was a GREAT help. I wrote to Doug, the owner of Casita Works, and he wrote back today. I'm on his waiting list of 3-4 weeks. I can handle that. I previously owned a 2010 13' Scamp, and designed and made my own receiver hitch with steel I purchased and painted, and had professionally welded (not bolted) to the Scamp. This time, with the Casita, I was willing to spend a little money and have it all done, painted, and be specifically designed and proven for the Casita, and was willing to bolt rather than weld, it to the frame. And i'm acutely aware of proper trailer weight distribution, and the danger of anything on the back of a trailer being whipped around. But thanks for the warning, as many trailer owners seem to be unaware of these dynamics. Doug's installation instructions, which he sent to me, even alluded to these warnings. BTW, here's a question: Scamp offers a 2" receiver option on their trailers, but Casita does not. Casita's owners manual even warns against adding anything to the frame. My only guess is that Casita is more cautious/conservative than Scamp ? They are basically very similar designs.

Thanks Wayne, But let me inform you, and anyone reading this, that the rear "bumper" is NOT, NOT, the place to mount anything that will bear any weight. There's numerous documentation of this flimsy/thin "bumper" failing at the welds, and torsionally twisting under loads. Mounting anything with weight to this "bumper" is an accident waiting to happen. IMHO

Thanks Thomas for reply. I previously looked at the E-Trailer receiver hitches that could work on my Casita The Curt 13703 hitch could probably work fine. What I like about the OMW and similar Casita Works hitch is the two cross bars that spread out the load more than a single cross bar with wide brackets. Plus it only weighs 47 pounds. Thanks again for replying.

Yes, that's why I removed it. It was on there when we bought it used.

Larry, looks like you chose the best option, order the one from Casita Works. That design, just like the OMW receiver, does just what you said, spreads out the load over a longer section of the frame. I suspect that the Casita factory does not offer a rear receiver because they know some people will overload it, resulting in a liability issue. Worth the wait for Casita Works. I've seen a couple photos of many receivers laid out on the floor waiting to be shipped. He is selling them as fast as he can make them.
